U.K. interfaith institute focuses on Islam after first successful year, hopes to hold event in Saudi Arabia

The Institute for the Impact of Faith in Life (IIFL), is an interfaith organisation dedicated to understanding and promoting the role of faith in daily life across the United Kingdom and beyond.

Established a year ago, IIFL’s research and insights have been showcased across leading British outlets including The Guardian, The Times, The Telegraph, and the BBC, as well as Eastern Eye – Britain’s most read weekly Asian newspaper. This coverage exemplifies IIFL’s commitment to contributing impactful perspectives on the role of faith in modern society and bridging cultural and religious conversations across different regions.

In a significant shift, IIFL is narrowing its focus to Islam and Christianity – both the UK’s and the world’s two major religions. This follows the release of the Institute’s flagship report in March 2024, ‘The social contribution of British Muslims’, that underscored the positive role Muslims play in Britain. This is part of IIFL’s endeavours to help foster positive perceptions of Islam in the UK.

In June 2024, IIFL published its fourth research report assessing the role of faith in our stewardship of the planet, hosting a launch in London titled ‘Faith and Sustainability’. IIFL intends to host a panel discussion in Saudi Arabia in early 2025 to develop the themes explored at this event. The Institute believes that sustainability and Islam’s unique contributions toward environmental stewardship and interfaith dialogue are underexplored and are increasingly important matters for world media.
