The Institute for the Impact of Faith in Life will be hosting an online panel discussion about the relationship between faith and leadership in different areas of life. The discussion will cover topics including how faith influenced the panellists’ leadership journeys, how faith can help overcome challenges, and different aspects of leadership that are complimented by faith.

We will be joined by Dr Husna Ahmad (CEO of Global One 2015 and Secretary General of the World Muslim Leadership Forum), Rabbi Alex Goldberg (Rabbi of Guildford, Dean of Religious Life and Belief at the University of Surrey, barrister, and human rights activist), Dr Brian Grim (Founder and President of the Religious Freedom & Business Foundation), and Mayor Tushar Kumar (Mayor of Elstree & Borehamwood). The discussion will be moderated by Professor Andrew Davies, Director of the Edward Cadbury Centre for the Public Understanding of Religion at the University of Birmingham.

Moderator

Professor Andrew Davies is the Director of the Edward Cadbury Centre for the Public Understanding of Religion at the University of Birmingham, where he is responsible for the MAs in Public Administration in Faith-Based Leadership and Religion, Politics and Society programmes.

Dr Husna Ahmad

Panellist

Dr Husna Ahmad is the CEO of Global One, the only Muslim women-led INGO in the UK, which oversees sustainable development projects across Asia and Africa with a focus on community, social justice and female empowerment. She also serves as Secretary General of the World Muslim Leadership Forum.

Rabbi Alex Goldberg

Panellist

Rabbi Alex Goldberg is the Rabbi of Guildford and of Guildford Synagogue, Dean of Religious Life and Belief at the University of Surrey, a barrister, human rights activist, UN Faith for Rights Steering Group member, and Co-Convenor of the Faith in the City initiative in the City of London. At the University he serves as Dean of the College of Chaplains and Coordinating Chaplain — the only rabbi to hold such a role in Europe.

Dr Brian Grim

Dr Brian Grim is the Founding President of the Religious Freedom & Business Foundation and serves as Global Chair of Dare to Overcome, an initiative that fosters mutual respect and engagement among diverse faith groups in workplaces worldwide.

Mayor Tushar Kumar

Panellist

Mayor Tushar Kumar is the Mayor of Elstree & Borehamwood. He is the youngest mayor of Indian-origin in the history of the UK, after first being elected a councillor in 2023. He is passionate about community initiatives, development and empowerment.
