The Institute for the Impact of Faith in Life (IIFL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Charlotte Littlewood as the new Director of Research. Charlotte, who has been a Senior Research Associate at IIFL since May 2024, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role and will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the Institute’s research initiatives.
Charlotte’s career began as a Prevent practitioner on behalf of the UK government, followed by her role as Counter-Extremism Coordinator for an East London borough. Building on this foundation, she founded her own community interest company with a mission to counter extremism and promote equality. Charlotte has spearheaded impactful projects focusing on women’s rights and tackling domestic violence, notably working in the West Bank, Palestine. She has also consulted for Muslims Against Antisemitism, striving to foster greater tolerance and cohesion between communities across the UK.
A respected researcher and writer, Charlotte has authored several reports, including investigations into antisemitism and anti-Hindu hate in UK schools, and other works relating to extremism and radicalisation. Charlotte is currently a PhD candidate in Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter, with her research examining minority within Muslim minority conflicts in the UK, particularly the persecution of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
“Charlotte has been an invaluable asset to IIFL, and we are thrilled to have her step into this new role as Director of Research,” said Roberto White, Chair of IIFL. “Her extensive background in community cohesion and academic research aligns perfectly with our mission at IIFL to explore the positive contributions of faith to individuals and societies. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of her work on the Institute’s research initiatives.”
Charlotte’s new role at IIFL will see her lead the Institute’s growing research team, overseeing projects that examine the intersection of faith and public life.
